Grey Arthur is a ghost who hasn’t found his place in the world. Tom Golden is a boy who doesn’t fit in at school. When Tom and Grey Arthur mutter the same three words, “Life isn’t fair”, at exactly the same moment, a connection is made between them. Suddenly Grey Arthur knows what he must do: he must become Tom’s Invisible Friend!

Tom’s world is turned upside down when Grey Arthur starts a school for Invisible Friends, drawing new ghosts from near and far in the ghost world. However, as ghosts mysteriously disappear, the balance between the human and ghost worlds is dangerously disrupted. Only Tom, Grey Arthur and the Invisible Friends in training can discover what’s really going on!

School Visits

I’m a great believer in the importance of school visits, not just because I think anything that can encourage more children to get into reading is a fabulous thing, but also because I know that sometimes authors can be seen as these mystical, elusive, rare creatures when the reality couldn’t be more different!

I’m happy to do anything from a standard question and answer session, with a reading, through to creative writing workshops (during which I bring in my bag of props that I use to help me daydream - readers will be familiar with some of the items inside, including Dr Brown’s bingo machine and Mildred Rattledust’s sinister monkey!). All children will also receive a collectable Invisible Friend badge as a memento.

If you are interested in receiving a pack from me about school visits, including references from other schools I have been to, an outline of what I do, and rates charged, please drop me a line through the contact page and I will be happy to send one out to you.

I look forward to hearing from you!
